Olive Oil

October 10, 2007

If you’ve developed a taste for olive oil … check out The Olive Press. It’s amazing stuff. A friend gave us a bottle of the Sonoma Valley Blend, and it’s the best I’ve had. If you’re looking for a gift for someone with culinary inclinations, this one will go a long way.

Thanks for the tip. We love olive oil and go through quite a lot of it, so we’ll definitely check it out. Lately we’ve been trying out some gourmet balsamic vinegars as well (they can get pretty pricey). I’ve also been thinking it that I might start bringing olive oil as a party gift instead of the cliche bottle of wine.

You know what’s a good, inexpensive balsamic vinegar? Trader Joe’s “Gold Quality,” in the squat cube bottle. It’s not an exciting syrupy balsamic by any means … but it’s quite nice for day to day things.

Anyhoo. I definitely like the olive oil as a party gift.

  3. We use the same whenever we cook pasta sauce. Good stuff. For everything else, I’m a butter/ghee man. Anyone got any tips there?
